ONLINE COURSE - THEE LANGUAGE OF LUMBER

Are you a mill worker or office worker and new to the Forest Industry?

If you want to get a jumpstart on your career and improve your lumber knowledge in a short period of time, then this is the course for you.

Like all the other Lumberman and Lumberwomen ahead of you and work in the Forest Industry, learn to speak and understand the terminology used in our industry.

Lumber is available in several species groupings, produced and offered for sale in different items and grades, and has descriptions and characteristic names that are used nowhere else and are unique to our industry. This course is from the first module of our On-Line Grading Course for Dimension Lumber, and the intent is to teach you the language of lumber and lumber grading.

You will learn the main commercial specie groups available in Canada, learn the correct characteristic and defect terminology for lumber (wood structure), and then have a better understanding as to which defects are more damaging from a structural point-of-view.

All newcomers to our industry and anyone else who just wants to learn more about lumber in an easy to understand format, should take this course.

This course will take about 3 hours to complete and can be reviewed several times.

There are no exams to take.
